Venison Udon Sir Fry

I’ll admit Valentine’s Day is not my favorite holiday. I have been single for several years, so I am usually just celebrating with my best pal – Ulli. That said, I’m still a big believer in love and a huge romantic, and I think there is no better place to celebrate Valentine’s than in nature with delicious food.

With a bit of creativity, eating in the outdoors can be one of the most romantic and memorable experiences for you and your special someone. Not only does eating outdoors add beauty and out-of-the-ordinary surprises, but snuggling up in the wilderness with a warm meal makes everything feel more intimate. You can pick from camping trips under starry skies, majestic coastal lunches on isolated beaches (with plenty of firewood!), picnic blankets at spectacular vistas, or even an early morning hot air balloon ride over local vineyards — whatever takes your fancy!

Most Romantic Places to Cook Venison Udon Stir Fry Outdoors in the West

  • On a snowshoe. One of the most romantic dates I had ever had was a snowshoe trip in Grand Teton National Park. After an invigorating hike through the woods, we settled for delicious food, a glass of champagne, and watching the sunset over the Tetons.
  • At the beach. In the Pacific Northwest, the coast is a little cold in the winter, but farther south down the Califonia coasts, there are many wonderful beaches to cook oceanside as the waves roll in.
  • By a riverside or seaside vista. You don’t have to go far in the wilderness for a great date outside. Even in the heart of the city, you can find great pops of nature, like Discovery Park in Seattle, Cathedral Park in Portland, or Wilder Ranch outside of Santa Cruz, California.

Where or whatever you cook for your valentine in the outdoors, you must most importantly, make it easy and make it delicious. Venison Udon Stir Fry checks both those boxes!

This dish is totally swoon-worthy – the udon noodles bring an incredible chewiness that really makes this dish easy to fall in love with! These Japanese wheat flour noodles add a delightful heartiness to balance out the richness of venison and savory sauce. So comforting; you won’t be able to put your fork or chopsticks down!
